Xianjun comes from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, China. He earned his BA in ecology from Inner Mongolia Normal University (2010) and his MS in gentics from Sichuan University (2013). He was accepted as a PhD student working in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in Sichuan Agriculture University in 2014. In 2015, he was awarded a competitive Chinese Scholarship Council fellowship which allowed him to join the Schnable lab as a joint PhD student and spend two years in Lincoln, NE. His current research focus on the use of comparative transcriptome data to study changes in both co-expression networks and alternative splicing across closely related grass species.
